First let me give you an insight to my "chosen" profession. I work in the nuclear industry and provide services to the fleet of power stations across the country. the most busiest times are from mid-January to end of May and then from mid-August to mid-November. It is job that requires the upmost focus and attention to detail. I equate this to being "submerged" for long periods of time and only my loving wife hears from me on a daily basis. So long story short - during those busy times, the blog may be silent.
So after my fall season -
December - Finally got home and we decided to take a trip to the GSMNP to camp some and fly fish. We had a great time and got to see our daughter-in-law graduate from college.
We camped in Pigeon Forge TN at the KOA - the sites there were on top of each other and besides our fishing we stayed away from the campground as much as possible.
We did venture out on one of days of fishing to the Elkmont area inside the park. We said that we would have to come back there one soon for camping.

We did manage to get out to Cade's Cove. |
The list of mods for our trip to GNP for the TC rally grows daily. We have some minor repairs to make as well.
1. - The truck suffered some damage when I unloaded the TC back in December. The bump-out on the passenger side got hung up on the pin that secures the tailgate of the truck. The pin gouged out the metal, and the pin bent. There some pictures below showing this - so it is a fine place to overlap some.
January 2016 - Cold month and traveled to Illinois for work. Temps hovered around the teens and twenties - not too cold by Illinois standards but we did have some days in the minuses.
Continued to make plans to go to GNP for the Rally. Started routing the trip out there and back to maximize the enjoyment!
February 2016 - Learned of a rally being held on the Gatlinburg side of the GSMNP. Tammy and I decided to go. It is always good to have something to look forward when working these outages after I get home. This year will be different as Tammy has a job as well. She will be in PA after I leave Illinois and our paths will criss-cross on my way to the next job which is in PA as well. We plan to meet at CABELAS just outside Harrisonburg in PA.
March - 2016 - Finished up LaSalle and went on to Susquehanna for work. By the time I get home it will be mid April. -
While on one of our road trips, Tammy mentioned that she didn't like the "clunking" sounds that the hitch made while towing the Jeep. So I started looking for some possible solutions and came up with a neat idea - I took tubing and made bushings so that it would dampen the noise. - worked like a charm.
Tammy is at Limerick Station and we both long to be in the woods and just to "BE" as she puts it. The sounds, the smell of a campfire, the cool spring air and the "sweet low tones" of the river beside keeps us driven to see the job through and finish up.
Well the winter months, I suppose like for most of us are pretty ho-hum. Spring has popped here in the south and after our work season has ended - we are going camping! Truck Camper Rally in TN!
or at least we think so.....
